asley-webb.gifNow my Life is all about Him

Romans 12:2 says "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Last night someone came up and said that they were fed up with people messing about in church. For me, that was true. I was keeping people happy by going to church. I was never really committed. I wasn't living for anything much in particular. Every so often I would go to a conference and "feel good" and stay the same but then I went to Alabama, Georgia and there God touched me in an amazing way. I went down on my knees and told the Lord "God, this life is no longer about me, it's about your will and purpose. I need you to lead this life for me". Never before have I had such a desire to pray but God touched me there and then.

I've been drawn to this thought recently, that these earthly vessels we live in can be flesh pots or spirit pots, it's what we're feeding on.

Take Esau for example, who chose to please the fleshly appetite selling his inheritance for a ‘bowl of stew', or the children of Israel having been freed from the grip of the enemy who started to complain bitterly, looking at what they didn't have and remembering the ‘pots of flesh'. At that time they were failing to see God's mighty deliverance of them and the promise of their inheritance.

I started to see just how much we can be like this at times, being consumed with the things of this world, being amazingly unaware of the divine plan and purposes of God. Give the flesh an inch and it will always take a mile! (that brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "pinching an inch"!.

While I was worshipping the Lord, He was giving me a revelation about when things go wrong and get hard in our lives, you have got to keep going on for Him. He is never going to abandon you. Even with the Israelites, His own people, He never left them at any stage, nor did He abandon them.

When God decided to flood the world, He told Noah to COME into the ark, He didn’t say GO into the ark, He said COME into the ark. Noah was going with God. God is always going to be with us all in every situation.

Rebecca Watts

bec.gifRebecca arrived in the UK Fellowship at Basildon at Christmas 2001 from Queensland Australia -

Jesus came along and He saved me from a life with the beginnings of alcoholism, and harming myself. I started drinking alcohol when I was 12 years old.

My sister was saved in 1998 and she would talk to me about God. I chose not to listen to her because I found it hard to believe that there was a God. However, seeing how happy my sister was and knowing the trauma she’d been through, I went to church with her. There a lady prayed for me, which I was okay with me, but the next time I went to the church, another lady led me through the sinner’s prayer. I didn’t really know what was going on and I freaked out. I didn’t know what I had done and I felt frightened.

Over the next two months I thought about God more and was comfortable about it. I started to talk to Him or just ask questions. However I was still drinking, swearing and not that happy. But now when I drank I was feeling guilty about it. That is when I knew that God was real. On my sixteenth birthday, I went over to a friends house and we had a small party.

The apostle Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus in Ephesians 1:17-23 to have the spirit of wisdom and revelation. He prays for the eyes of our understanding (heart) to be enlightened. That is the first step to receiving revelation from the Lord. As long as the enemy can keep you in ignorance he has you in spiritual darkness. The answer is to know the truth (John 8:31-32) . God says He has blessed us with all spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. That is our position. This knowledge belongs to every child of God.

The mightiest working God ever did on the earth was to raise Jesus from the dead. Ephesians 2:1 says ‘and you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins’.

Did you know that God is so passionate about you?  We need to know God is passionate about us! We can sometimes think that God condemns, dislikes or even hates us because we can do things that offend Him but because of His passion towards us, we can always turn to him.

John 3:16 says that “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten son so that whoever believes in Him may not be lost but have everlasting life.”
