We heard a lot from the young people at the Walton convention; what touched me most was the love of God touching their minds and I pray that the Holy Spirit might touch us all and that everyone might be consumed by His love. We talk about all sorts of things - His power, His love, His joy etc etc... we talk about what He might do, what He will do, how will He do it, does He do it this way, does He do it that way? but the key to it all is His love. The love of God, flowing through you and me.
May we experience His love! It has been said, "how will you talk to them, how will you tell those who do not know Him?" He desires that you might firstly be filled with His love and His love will use you to touch them and He will do it in the most unusual way. If it is His love, He will challenge and change them through you. If that love that is within you is pure, freely given, and you have experienced His love, it will touch those whom you come across. I feel very strongly that we should be open to the who-so-ever - all humanity is in the same boat together. God does not separate any of us; the only difference is that you and I have been touched by His mighty love. When Jesus came to earth to show us the way, He touched people by the love that was within Him. You were born again, you were saved. You experienced something deep within. I hope you did! He touched your emotions; He touched your physical flesh. He manifested Himself in you and He desires that you might manifest Him and touch those around you. When I talk about being open, what I mean is God can touch anybody, any church, any grouping. Recently I had a Christian lady come to see me for treatment who also suffers from manic depression. She sat in front of me and I could hardly get a word out of her but, before we had finished there was a smile on her face because I had presented to her my dear friend. Such joy came upon her and she started to talk about Him. What she was actually doing was blessing me as she was being blessed by his love.
We never meet anyone by chance. The Holy Spirit can touch "the who-so-ever" and don't forget, it is not them and us. Jesus did not die and go to the cross for a little clique. He died for humanity. read Colossians and He will talk to you about why He came and whom He died for. Not just for the one or two but for humanity. So wherever you find yourself, whatever you are doing in your life, obey Him. Do not run around like a scalded cat, trying to do His work and wearing yourself out, but let Him do the work through you spontaneously, in an instant, no preconceived ideas but use the very moment as He quickens the right word or action to you. You do not think to love others, you just do and the physical manifestation of it is a warm feeling inside you; it just is; just be, and allow Him to touch humanity through you. Keep an open mind toward Him. The following verse is from an old hymn which is relevant for our day.
For the love of God is broader than the measure of man's mind.
And the heart of the eternal is most wonderfully kind.
But we make His love too narrow with false limits of our own.
And we magnify His strictness with a zeal He will not own.
Much love - Doug Aistrup
